California’s Central Coast makes a great vacation. You can enjoy wine tasting at the many wonderful wineries in the area. More details: http://www.cheers2wine.com/central-coast-wine-tasting.html

Other things to do include the normal beach activities. The beaches in Central California are normally not as crowded. At Pismo, you can drive your car right onto the beach and camp. You can also rent ATVs and drive the Pismo Dunes. It’s a blast. You can tour Hearst Castle, explore Solvang, and ride the roller coaster at Santa Cruz. There’s a great acquarium in Monterey and wonderful hiking throughout this area.

I would highly recommend Yosemite National Park. The scenery is beautiful and the temperature is pleasant. If you prefer a beach-type locale, head for Monterrey. North of San Francisco, you’ll find the Giant Redwoods. Those are fabulous.

Of course, I’d highly recommend almost any natural scenery over the man-made variety, but the San Francisco area can give you a good mix of both. It’s fairly cool there, so bring a light jacket! Yes, I do know how far from Yucaipa it is — in more ways than one, truthfully — and can tell you it’s well worth the drive.

  • For All That It's Worth:

    Sequoia National Park
    Sacramento/Gold Country
Joshua Tree Nat’l Park (it may have a different name)
Wine Country/Sonoma County (1 hr north of San Francisco)
    Santa Barbara/Goleta
    Palm Springs
    Eureka
    Redding
    San Jose/Silicon Valley
Lake Tahoe (California side; the other part’s in Nevada)
    Los Angeles
    San Francisco

Since I live in California, I would you say there’d be enough stuff to do in a week. From my point of view, maybe there’d be enough stuff for more than a week!
