Three Logical Suggestions Why Rugged Adventurers Think Military Gear Is Worth Every Penny
It is obvious that military gear or tactical equipment don’t come cheaply. But personally, I suspect its a sound investment. And quite a few avid adventure freaks like myself share my reasons too.
Over the last decade, I have spent quite a bit on tactical equipment, both for private use as well as gifts to kin and close friends who like to rough it out in the out doors. And in all of that time, I only got one complaint. It was from a female cousin of mine. She has got a slight frame and I acquired her a tactical pack that was a bit to big for her. But other that, everybody had only praises for the gear I got them.
Here are three reasons that explain why rough travelers like myself think that military gear are perfect for journey trips.
As Tough As It Can Get
Basically anything that is built to military directions has got to be quite tough. I have an assortments of army backpacks and other gear like hydration systems and LED flash-lamps which have been with me for ages. And from the outward appearance of things, it seems like they are going to be with me for a long time to come.
I have been on desert trips, a 3-week trek thru Borneo and a journey thru the Amazon rain forest with my military gear. They have survived mudslides, numerous hurricanes, drops, skids and falls.
To tell you the truth, after a wash, they look in better shape than me after a long hard journey. You might find an occasional scratch here and there however it truly takes quite a bit thrashing to result in a tear or breakage.
Intelligent Thought-out Designs
I also like the way military gear or tactical equipment is designed. Take as an example a tactical back-pack. These backpacks are designed in such a fashion that it maximises space as well as improves accessibility. So you get tons of differing kinds of storage compartments. Outside compartments have the general flaps or zips. Inside compartments have hard and soft separators, flaps, netting, loops and ties.
Most tactical backpacks have Mates webbing on the outside so that you can attach other gear or pouches to it. On the inside, some have inbuilt areas for hydration system and even safety kits.
Lasts A Very Long Time
As I have discussed earlier, military gear lasts a really long time. This isn’t really a good thing if you like getting new tactical gear after a few years. What I usually do is try and recruit folk to join me on my journeys and I finish up giving them one of my seasoned backpacks for nothing.
In summation,
- Invest in a good, durable gear for demanding journeys
- The gear is designed in such a way which maximizes space, allows you to have add-ons and improves access to certain quick-grab items
- Well taken care of tactical equipment can last for years of hard use
