Great South America Vacation Ideas
The continent of South America is quite unlike any other. It is full of natural beauty almost throughout and it has some of the warmest and friendliest people of the world. It also enjoys highly pleasing tropical climate throughout the year. And there are several things to do. You will be actually strapped for time when you are on your South America vacation. Here we shall talk about things you can do when vacationing this lovely part of the world.
Water Sporting along the Amazon
The Amazon is known as the widest river in the world and it is also notorious for the very different kind of flora and fauna that thrives along its banks. Just cruising along the Amazon can be a vacationer’s delight, but there is so much more to do. The River Amazon is also the hub of several water sporting activities. Whitewater rafting is a commonly pursued activity. One of the best places to do that is in Chile, known as the Futaleufu Rover. The rapids here are some of the best in the world.
Almost all kinds of water sporting activities such as windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving and others are pursued along this river. If you are looking for a casual ambling-along experience, then you might want to go canoeing and kayaking as well.
Sightseeing at the Iguaza Falls
The Iguaza Falls in South America is something that must certainly not be missed. One of the best things about these waterfalls geographically it that they lie in three countries-Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay-though they cover only a distance of 2 miles. This is actually not a single waterfall but a group of smaller ones. The waterfalls themselves and the canyon that they drop into are something nature created after a lot of thought.
Rock Climbing in Brazil
Brazil has some steep slopes for the avid mountaineer as well as gentle ones for people who are just beginning to learn mountain climbing. The Brazilian government has long understood the attraction its mountains holds and has made mountaineering here an organized activity. Apart from the thrill this sport can give, there’s also the mesmerizing scenery of the area that holds the tourists’ attraction.
Hiking and Trekking in Chile
The best place to hike and trek in Chile is the Lake Region, where you can see 12 large and beautiful lakes and a number of smaller ones. It is wonderful to go walking along these lakes in the bright sunshine with everything nature has to offer spread out in front of you. The region is definitely invigorating and a favorite of picture postcard makers. There are also thermal springs here that you can check out.
Cruising along South America
Even if you don’t set foot on land during your South America vacation but just go cruising along its lakes, you will experience its beauty. Some of the best places that you can cruise along include Valparaiso, Puerto Montt, Puerto Chacabuco, the Magellan Straits, Punta Arenas, Ushuaia, the Beagle Channel, Cape Horn, the Falkland Islands and so on. Each place has an attraction of its own. There are so many places to visit that even a whole year won’t suffice to cover them all!

Asia Vacation – 5 Reasons For a Tropical, Exotic and Affordable Vacation
“What makes an Asia vacation so special?” That’s what I’ve been asked many times in the last few years. Because, I can’t help it… talk about Asia vacation, and I’m on a roll.
Maybe it’s because I’ve been traveling and vacationing numerous times in Asia in the last five years — my last Asia vacation has actually lasted now for around two years…
…Maybe it’s because some of the Asian countries are really opening up to tourism now, and that of course means there are more opportunities to experience more different cultures, people, historic landmarks, and much more…
…Or maybe it’s because I simply got seduced by the natural beauty, the tropical weather, the variety in the people, and that “exotic something” you find in Asia.
Whatever the case, this is for certain…
If you don’t make the decision to experience an Asia vacation right now, you’re going to do yourself a big disservice.
There are several reasons for treating yourself to an Asia vacation, and here I want to share five of them with you.
Because sometimes you just need to get away from it all. Escape the daily routine for a while. Leave stress and worry behind while you relax somewhere and recharge your battery…
Asia, and in particular Southeast Asia, is becoming a very popular tourist destination. Because in some of the countries you can have it all: a tropical climate all year around, fabulous beaches, exotic and exciting food, rich culture, and best of all, low prices.
Reason 1: Tropical climate
Throughout the year, the temperature in Southeast Asia is around 30 degrees centigrade. The countries around the equator have usually 2 seasons — a wet and a dry one. And even in the “wet” season, you get a lot of sunshine in the mornings with torrential rains in the afternoons. It’s great standing in the rain and getting yourself absolutely soaked. Will you dare…?
Reason 2: White sandy beaches
Many people, when they think of an Asia vacation, think of enjoying the beaches, the sun, the blue sky, and relaxing with a cool drink somewhere. Try the fabulous beaches in Thailand, the Philippines, or Indonesia, especially Bali. Or have an underwater adventure and scuba dive in world-class diving locations in Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia or Indonesia. If scuba diving’s not quite your thing, why not try snorkeling and enjoy the fish and corals this way? It’s great fun, keeps you cool, and you stay fit.
Reason 3: Rich heritage
When you’ve had enough of lolling on the beach, soaking up the sun, or saying hello to the fish, you can go and discover the rich heritage and cultural history of the region. Be awed and overwhelmed by the amazing temple complex of Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The monuments of the old Khmer culture and religion from around the 10th to 15th century AD were slowly reclaimed by the jungle, were rediscovered in the 1860s, and have become one of the great wonders of the world. Other great wonders are the Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal in India.
Reason 4: Wonderful exotic food
One of the great things for me is the food that I enjoy on an Asia vacation. Sure, you can taste such food at home too, but not in its authentic entirety. Wonderful vegetables, seafood, fish, and meat are all cooked with the unmistakable Asian spices and herbs. What would a curry be without some chilli, lemon grass, ginger, cardamon, and coriander? And to take the heat off it a little, there’s a good helping of coconut milk or cream. Your meal is rounded off with some exquisite tropical fruit such as mango, papaya, pineapple, various sizes and types of banana, watermelon and pomelo, just to mention the more well-known fruits. Or you can enjoy them at breakfast, or at any time of the day.
Reason 5: Low prices
This is of course on of the best reason why an Asia vacation is so popular now. Your budget goes further. Your accommodation, your sightseeing expeditions, your culinary adventures, and of course your souvenir shopping goes much further. You pay a fraction of what you would pay closer to home. Depending on your destination, you can have a luxury 5-star Asia vacation for around 100 USD per day. And you will probably have some cash left over to get yourself pampered with a massage, a facial or a manicure. It doesn’t get much better than this…!
So, next time you’re wondering where to spend your vacation, consider a tropical, exotic and affordable Asia vacation.
